Estibaliz Jimenez, a Spanish Basque country native, is guest professor at the School of Criminology at Université de Montréal. She also is associate professor at the Faculty of Law at Université de Sherbrooke. She teaches and conducts research in the fields of immigration and refugee law.
Her Ph.D. thesis, both in criminology and law, is entitled “Combating migrant smuggling in Canada: Migration controls first, then fighting organised crime”. Her master’s thesis, in criminology, concerned the double vulnerability of migrant women in situation of marital abuse in Québec.
Fields of interest: immigration law and refugee rights, migrant smuggling and human trafficking, human rights, international humanitarian law, security and intercultural mediation.
