The Asia Pacific Law Association of McGill together with the Hans & Tamar Oppenheimer Chair in Public International law invite you to a panel discussion on Australia’s Response Asylum Seekers, with a particular focus on its offshore solution in the Asia Pacific.
The panel will be chaired by Professor François Crépeau, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants.
The panel will facilitate a discussion on the potential legal implications of of Australia’s response to asylum seekers. It will feature presentations by:
- Joanna Richardson on the development of the offshore solution and potential implications under international criminal law
- Susan Ballard on the use of private corporations in offshore agreements
- Anna Purkey on the fiduciary nature of the state-refugee relationship
